The Life Cycle of a Blog Post
If you’ve ever wondered just what happens when you post something to your blog, you’re not alone. Some things are obvious: the post ends up on your blog, and if you have date or category archives, it gets dropped into the right spots to appear on those pages, too. But you’ve probably heard a lot about how blogs are ideal for generating search engine results and Web traffic, and maybe you’ve wondered how that happens exactly.
Wonder no longer. Wired magazine ran a story on January 22 that explains exactly what happens, complete with an amazing info graphic.
The Life Cycle of a Blog Post, From Servers to Spiders to Suits—to You
Imperceptibly and all but instantaneously, your post slips into a vast and recursive network of software agents, where it is crawled, indexed, mined, scraped, republished, and propagated throughout the Web. Within minutes, if you’ve written about a timely and noteworthy topic, a small army of bots will get the word out to anyone remotely interested, from fellow bloggers to corporate marketers.
Live Blogging The Book Launch Party
We have opened the doors and people have started to arrive! If you are sitting around at home and have nothing to do, why not head on down to the Railway Club in downtown Vancouver and pick up a copy of our book. You may even be so lucky to get it signed by both authors. Here are a few photos to start off the night.
Blogging for Dummies Book Launch Party!
Today is a big day for me and for Shane Birley, my co-author on “Blogging for Dummies, 2nd Edition.” We’re having a book launch party! I haven’t done this with either of my other books. It can be hard to find the energy to plan an event like this after you’ve written the whole book and done a bunch of marketing. But this time friends urged us not to let the opportunity go, and even helped organize it (Thanks Allyson!).
This is an RSVP event, but we still have a few slots available, so if you would like to come, let me know and I’ll put you on the list. Here are the details:
Wednesday, Feb. 13, 6 pm - 9 pm
Railway Club Chill Lounge
579 Dunsmuir at Seymour
Vancouver, BC
